The Do-Follow Plugin

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

Today I finally installed the Do-Follow Plugin! I published a D-List of websites earlier, and that is truly helpful for anyone striving to promote his or her website by commenting on other blogs using WP. If you do not know it, the WP has an evil “nofollow” tag that disallows search engines to index your comments link. The solution comes in the form of ‘do-follow’ plugin that can be found here.

If you want to help fellow blogger and actually incent or persuade them to leave more comments on your blog (and thus increase traffic to your place), you can install this plugin and declare it to others.

Technorati Tricks with Blog Page

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

I had a tough day today, and to make it worse Technorati made something bad with my blog Technorati page that usually tells something like Everything in the Universe That is Known about www.alexradich.com. Look at these screens:

At this level everything is allright - two blogs (reminder - to register my other bunch of blogs on Technorati), authority, pings. Then - suddenly - OOOPS!

But when I check who referred to my blog (Authority page), then I see again:

So you see how tangled this case is. I sent them an error report, and got the following letter.

Dear Technorati User,

Thank you so much for taking the time to drop us a line. If you are reporting a problem you may be having you will be contacted by a support technician once we have had a chance to review your message.

If you don’t hear back from anyone within a week, please accept our apologies for the delay as we may be experiencing a backlog in Support. Please feel free to send us a reminder of your ticket.

Great! Thank you robot! No real man behind this. We have got a case with Google AdWords payments - they could not charge our credit card, thus we contacted them again and again, and it seems like their automated payment system works from time to time, one time successful, another time fails. BUT when I got to the real man (this was a favor of my friend who spent hours talking to Google staff by Skype), this man was polite enough to drop me a few lines :-)

And now as I take part in different Technorati programs, use their widgets and am overall satisfied customer, I just CANNOT see my Technorati page for my blog! I can’t help but hope that this will be resolved soon, and not in a week or two.

3.) When you get a ping back from someone that has your link in one of their “Viral Tags”, practice good karma by copying his/her Host Tag’s anchor text (automatically the associated link will also be copied) and paste it over one of your “Viral Tags” below.

Host Tag: Personal Development Blog

Important: Once I get a ping back from you, I will add your anchor text and the associated link you designate as “Host Tag” here, replacing one of the “ViralTags” from the matrix above. As more and more bloggers copy and paste this matrix, the more backlinks you will have with your anchor text. If everybody who copy and paste from your blog does the same, pretty soon this will spread and go viral. So, the sooner you participate, the more links with anchor text you will receive.

Viralinks Link Train From Andy Coates

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Andy Coates has begun an interesting link exchange matrix called Viralink, with hopes that this will increase one’s PageRank. Well, I am not sure this will do, but anyway backlinks count in many ways, and as soon as there are rules that no MFA or Porn sites take part, it may be worthwhile to take part.

The idea is to create a little community of bloggers who populate the matrix of asterixes with links to their blogs. When the campaign ends, we have 120 links to each other’s websites. If this proves to be a successful idea, we can go on with additional lines for more links.

———copy and paste the Viralink and instructions below this line———

Below is a matrix of 120 stars, I have already added a link to my blog onto one of the stars, all you need to do is copy and paste the grid into your blog and add your own link to one of the other spare stars, and tell others to do the same!

Viralink

New Addition: When I receive a ping back once you have added the Viralink to your site I will add your link to this grid, and each person who copies the grid from here will also link to your site!

The D-list from Court

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

Following “Top 5″ buzz from Darren Rowse that we will return to, here is another idea of Court. He suggests a list of blogs that do not use “nofollow” comment feature that disables links to comment authors, thus not allowing them to earn links that they deserve. I stumbled upon Court’s site by chance as I look through people who read my site, via MyBlogLog. So I like the idea and produce his list hereby.

This DoFollow Blog list is courtesy of Courtney Tuttle and was created originally by Coleen as the D-List.

Google Analytics New Reports in Beta

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

Google Analytics released a new version of its reports modules. Now the dashboard looks more informative and yet a little too busy. Many links resulted in error screen. So the beta version has still a way to go.

This graph represents my stats from April 23 when I first installed Google Analytics to my webpage.

Google Analytics Web Screen

Geographical distribution is quite informative.

Map Image in Google Analytics

The color in the map represents density of visits. The more visits the darker the continent.

We hope that Google Analytics will cope with multiple bugs soon, and we will enjoy this advanced reports system.
