My Current Bulgarian Impressions

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

I did not publish during last couple of weeks as I prepared to travel and now I am in Bulgaria for about two weeks. I keep diary of my trip, in Russian, and am making a lot of pictures, so I am likely to publish parts of it here.

So what my impressions to this moment are:

The season is too short, so people need to earn as much money as they could to survive for the whole year. There are not enough working places in Sozopol, so many young and talented people leave their hometown.

There seems to be less number of Ukrainians and Russians than last years. I hear Russian speech only from time to time, and there are mainly Bulgarians, and to some extent Polish and German people rambling around.

The spirit of hospitality is there. My hosts are very friendly people, and I feel the welcoming atmosphere, despite a few envying people.

The beaches are well kept, but the water in the Central beach is dirty from sea plants and sand. It is a little gulf overunindated by people.

I will be back in Kiev in Saturday, 21st of July, so I will continue with more articles.
