Verka Serduchka - Lasha Tumbai or Russia, Goodbye!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

I added one category called Proud To Be Ukrainian, and I will post here what important events happen in Ukraine. There are people of our country who I am proud of. To name a few, I would say Andriy Shevchenko, brothers Klitschko, Ruslana, and now Verka Serduchka. This woman is actually a man, Andriy Danilko who has an extravagant scenic character of woman railway conductor. That character proved to be very attractive to public, and light Ukrainian accent added to his popularity.

Serduchka started with short humor speeches, then proceeded to interviews with famous people (like Oprah show), taking part in musicals, and then suddenly he started to sing! And his songs were on top of hit parades in Ukraine for years. He does not have a great voice but a lot of enthusiasm and energy. His songs are a symbol of never-breaking optimism and simple joy of life.

This year he was selected to represent Ukraine in Eurovision. This raised controversial feedback. Many people think that a man disguised for woman is a transvestite, and could ruin Ukraine’s reputation. But Danilko is not the man to quit his business. He went on and possessed the 2nd place in one of the largest music contest in the world!

Some people think that he sang Russia, Goodbye and proposed to ban him from making concerts in Russia (he is from Ukraine, but mostly lives in Russia, and he is very very popular there), but actual name of the song is Lasha Tumbai which does not make real sense (some say this means churning milk in some Asian language).

Ukrainians - Be Aware of EURO 2012! Do Not Spoil Reputation!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Recently I started a blog about Euro 2012 football championship which is to be held in Poland and Ukraine. This picture was taken two days ago in Kiev during Ukrainian Cup final between Dynamo Kiev and Shakhtyor Donetsk. My friend Zhenya who is 16 yo was present there, and he showed me bruises on his arms, he fell down when a police man tried to hit him with a rubber baton. The quarrel was a major one, with hundreds of people involved. So I think that Ukraine citizens should be utterly aware of the approaching Euro 2012 which will have a great influence on our country development.

Announcing My New Blog - Russian Jokes

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

This is basically a part of my blog net ambitious project of 20 active blogs being commenced and supported by the end of 2007. I have started 4 third-level domains with blogs on www.alexradich.com . I do not register dot com names as I consider these test projects, and as soon as some of them show more success and interest from readers, I will buy corresponding domain.

You know it is sometimes difficult to keep track of many domains, and there are people who will steal your domain as soon as it expires. I read an article about this dirty domain business, even wrote a little article about that in Russian, and this week my friend announced that one of our business domains, http://www.eastongroup.net/ , has been stolen and now it hosts an MFA site. So, guys, this is real, real threat. You have to be careful.

And now about my project, Russian Jokes . To tell you the truth, I am anecdote fan, I enjoy witty sayings, proverbs, and whenever there is some festivity, I tell lots of anecdotes to entertain my coworkers. I consider Russian humor to be very creative and worth distributing to the world. So I start here with Russian Jokes .

The blog starts with my favorite Conan Doyle series of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. For us, citizens of former Soviet Union, Sherlock Holmes means actor Vasiliy Livanov with his outstanding voice and great charisma. Here is a picture of Livanov in a role of Sherlock Holmes.

Viralinks Link Train From Andy Coates

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Andy Coates has begun an interesting link exchange matrix called Viralink, with hopes that this will increase one’s PageRank. Well, I am not sure this will do, but anyway backlinks count in many ways, and as soon as there are rules that no MFA or Porn sites take part, it may be worthwhile to take part.

The idea is to create a little community of bloggers who populate the matrix of asterixes with links to their blogs. When the campaign ends, we have 120 links to each other’s websites. If this proves to be a successful idea, we can go on with additional lines for more links.

———copy and paste the Viralink and instructions below this line———

Below is a matrix of 120 stars, I have already added a link to my blog onto one of the stars, all you need to do is copy and paste the grid into your blog and add your own link to one of the other spare stars, and tell others to do the same!

New Addition: When I receive a ping back once you have added the Viralink to your site I will add your link to this grid, and each person who copies the grid from here will also link to your site!

The View from Hyatt Regency Kiev Hotel

The View From Hyatt Hotel

Yesterday I took a panoramic picture from the 6th floor of Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kiev. This square was aimed for Communistic Center of Soviet Ukraine by Stalin, but Mykhailivsky Golden-Domed Cathedral survived. Actually it was partly destroyed, and then re-built.

Analytics Stats

It is still lame with not much targeted traffic, and some 30-40 visitors a day. My site is a little more than one month old, and I will take much more pain to promote it and make it more informative and helpful.

Earn at Metacafe

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

There is a cute project called Metacafe that offers producer rewards for uploaded videos. You must hold all the rigths to all the content, though. So if you use any music, it should be written by you and performed by you or your friend. The Metacafe recommends:

If your friend wrote, played and recorded the music, and she gave you the rights to use the music, profit from it and sub-license it to other media types, then you can use the music in your video. You should also thank her profusely and take her out to dinner anywhere she wants and offer to wash her dog.

That is funny, and they have a sense of humor.

For every 1000 views of your video you get 5 USD, and for your video to qualify for payment it should be viewed minimum 20,000 times and have a score of 3.0 + in customer ratings. Cool system as most prolific users have earned already 25-30 K USD.
